Application Procedures for Transfer Students

  1. Complete the online application for Undergraduate Transfer students at www.tntech.edu/applyonline. (A copy of the paper application can be downloaded from www.tntech.edu/admissions/forms.) Complete the application and return it at an early date. The application must be accompanied by a non-refundable $25 application fee.
  2. Request each institution previously attended to send official transcripts of all work completed and a partial transcript if presently enrolled in another institution. Request the final transcript when all work is completed. Transcripts of all work attempted at the college level must be furnished. Please note: Transcripts that are marked “Issued to Student”, addressed to the student, or faxed are not considered official for admission purposes.

    It is a Class A misdemeanor to misrepresent academic credentials. A person commits the offense of misrepresentation of academic credentials who, knowing that the statement is false and with the intent to secure employment at or admission to an institution of higher education in Tennessee, represents, orally or in writing that such person:
    1. Has successfully completed the required course work for and has been awarded one (1) or more degrees or diplomas from an accredited institution of higher education;
    2. Has successfully completed the required course work for and has been awarded one (1) or more degrees for diplomas from a particular institution of higher education; or
    3. Has successfully completed the required course work for and has been awarded one (1) or more degrees or diplomas in a particular field or specialty from an accredited institution of higher education.
  3. Students who have NOT earned a bachelors degree are required to submit an official final high school transcript or GED scores. Those who have not completed college credit Math or English courses must follow COMPASS testing guidelines. Students under the age of 21 who have completed fewer than 24 semester hours must also submit ACT/SAT scores.
  4. Follow the procedure in applying for residence hall reservations outlined under Admission to Freshman Standing  (See Residential Life )
  5. Complete and return the Student Health Form and Hepatitis/Meningitis Waiver form before registering for classes. Forms are available to download from the Health Services website at www.tntech.edu/healthservices. (See “Health Requirements ” section for more information.)
  6. The applicant will be notified of the admission status after all credentials have been received and evaluated. Tentative admission may be granted on the basis of partial transcripts if the quality of work is clearly acceptable. Final admission is granted only after all transcripts and credentials are received. Upon acceptance the student will be sent a Letter of Admission.

All applications from students whose native language is not English will be screened by the English Placement Committee, and such students may be required to take a placement test at Tennessee Tech for the purpose of validating previous English study and/or placement in English courses, including English composition and English as a Second Language. The English placement test may not be taken more than once.
